The City’s Adult and Juvenile Community Service Program is a function of the City Attorney’s Office. The program allows individuals to perform community service in satisfaction of fines ordered by the City of Muskogee Municipal Court.
Adults: The adult program is operated in-house and is staffed with two supervisors. Community Service is offered each week Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For each hour of community service performed, credit of $10 is given toward fines owed. Additional information can be obtained by calling (918) 684-6276 during the hours of operation. Typical work involves mowing, weed-eating, trash hauling, general clean-up and painting.
Juveniles: The juvenile program is operated through a collaborative partnership with Muskogee County Council on Youth Services (MCCOYS). Community Service is offered each week Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional information can be obtained by calling (918) 682-2841. Typical work involves general clean-up, raking leaves, and painting.
Studies show that offenders who complete rehabilitative community service are more likely to be removed from court dockets, change their attitudes and behaviors, and move on to new and constructive activities. This is especially true for first time offenders.
This program has been made available due to a generous grant from the City of Muskogee Foundation.
